Edmond de Rothschild has promoted Alain Krief to the role of global chief investment officer (CIO) and Charles Lilford is joining as co-head of equities and senior portfolio manager for the Big Data strategy.
Krief is based in Paris and will report to Christophe Caspar, the global chief executive of Edmond de Rothschild AM.
Krief has spent more than 30 years in fixed income and credit.
Since 2019, he has led fixed income at Edmond de Rothschild AM, overseeing a 15-member team and €12bn of assets.
From 2012 to 2019, he held an equivalent post at Oddo BHF Asset Management.
Earlier in his career, he served as global head of credit at BNP Paribas Asset Management (Fischer Francis Trees & Watts).
He held senior positions in European high yield at Crédit Agricole Asset Management (Amundi) and Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management.
At Edmond de Rothschild AM, the liquid investment division has 82 investment staff across fixed income, including credit and sovereign, listed equities, and multi asset and overlay. Total assets under management in mutual funds and mandates exceed €60bn.
Lilford will work alongside Xiadong Bao.
From 28 September, Lilford will be based in Paris and will report to Krief.
Lilford has more than 20 years of experience in asset management and capital markets.
His background includes stock selection across sectors such as power & energy, industrials and technology.
Before this move, he spent a decade at BlackRock in the sector & thematics team, where he ran the BGF sustainable energy fund and the future of transport fund.
He has also worked at Treïs Partners as a private equity and infrastructure investment manager, and at Dresdner Kleinwort as an associate.
Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management CEO Christophe Caspar commented: "We are delighted to have Alain as our new chief investment officer. His leadership skills and sound investment track record make him the natural choice for this role. We are equally pleased to have Charles join the firm.
"Charles' impressive track record in bottom-up stock picking, recognised thematic investing expertise and high conviction investment approach will benefit our Big data strategy, further strengthen our Equities franchise and prove invaluable for clients."
