BitGo Acquires NYDIG Trading Business to Expand Institutional Crypto Platform

BitGo Holdings (NYSE: $BTGO) has acquired NYDIG's institutional trading business, adding derivatives, financing and structured products to a platform already built around custody, settlement and digital asset infrastructure.

The transaction brings about 30 NYDIG employees to BitGo along with roughly 250 institutional client relationships, according to Reuters.

NYDIG's trading unit serves asset managers, hedge funds, corporates, family offices and other sophisticated investors across financing, derivatives and capital markets products. Folding that business into BitGo gives the crypto custodian a wider institutional offering that can connect trading and risk management with its regulated custody and settlement stack.

More From Cryptoprowl:

BitGo CEO and co-founder Mike Belshe said institutions increasingly want a partner that can support the "full lifecycle of digital assets," from custody and trading through financing and settlement. The company said the acquisition should also help keep more client assets and activity inside its platform.

BitGo has been building toward that model throughout 2026. In May, the company launched a modular infrastructure platform for banks covering custody, trading, staking, settlement and stablecoin services, part of an effort to position itself as more than a standalone crypto custodian. Its regulated footprint also includes BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association.

The deal also gives NYDIG a cleaner path toward its own infrastructure strategy. The company said it will concentrate resources on vertically integrated power generation, bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) mining and high-performance computing data centers. Its development pipeline now exceeds 3 gigawatts, with more than 1 gigawatt expected to be deliverable across 2027 and 2028.

BitGo went public earlier this year, raising about $213 million in its initial public offering. The acquisition extends that public-market expansion into institutional capital markets at a time when crypto firms are competing to bundle custody, execution, financing and settlement under fewer regulated platforms for large financial clients.

BitGo Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BTGO) is currently trading at $7.16 U.S. per share.
