Adam Aron is choosing violence… via adjectives.
The AMC chief executive went after Robinhood on X for its tokenized stock products, deploying "contemptible," "outrageous," "disgusting," "detestable," "inexcusable," and "vile" in a single sentence, which is either a thesaurus incident or the most sustained burst of emotion in a CEO post since Elon started tweeting through it. He demanded Robinhood stop trading AMC stock tokens immediately.
Vlad Tenev's entire reply was 3 words. "What's the concern?" The internet has not yet recovered.

The concern, unpacked, is this. Robinhood sells something called stock tokens to investors outside the US, more than 190 of them, linked to companies like Nvidia, Apple, and Google. They're tokenized debt securities issued by a Jersey subsidiary, and here's the trick: they give you the economic exposure of owning the stock without actually making you a shareholder. No voting rights. No beneficial ownership. You get the price movement and none of the standing. They aren't registered under US securities law and can't be sold to Americans, which is why they launched in the EU last June and stayed there.
Aron's argument is that a synthetic security "sort of posing as AMC" cuts the company off from controlling its own capital raising while stripping investors of the rights they'd assume they were buying. Which is a real point, and also a slightly awkward one coming from the executive who turned share issuance into an art form.
The market's verdict was immediate and extremely AMC. The stock jumped 9% in early trading after being the most actively traded name in the premarket, because nothing rallies the apes like their CEO going to war in public. Robinhood fell 2.1%.
