Metals One MD: 'Cash talks' — £4m facility funds gold push without diluting shares

Metals One PLC (AIM, FRA, OTCQB) managing director Daniel Maling spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's new £4 million senior loan facility from YA II PN, a fund managed by Yorkville Advisors Global.

Maling explained why the company opted for debt rather than an equity raise at current share prices, and how the funding will help accelerate its gold-focused acquisition, exploration and development programme.

He said the facility gives Metals One greater financial flexibility by leveraging its balance sheet rather than issuing equity at what he described as depressed prices. The company holds around £7-8 million of listed investments alongside its wholly owned projects. "Cash talks, operating teams talk. And again our approach is let's get practical," he said.

The interview also covered the warrants accompanying the non-convertible loan, priced at a 30% premium. Maling said the financing group could exercise them if appropriate, potentially providing a further £4 million.

With more than £11 million in cash and liquid investments, Metals One is looking to support projects across its portfolio. Maling highlighted developments involving Lions Bay Resources in South Africa as a key area to watch this quarter, alongside exposure to Fidelity Minerals and a Peruvian gold project where field activity is underway.

In Nevada, Metals One holds its wholly owned Swales project, where Maling said the company wants to be active in the field before the end of the year or early next.
