AUMOVIO agrees sale of washer and cleaning business to CERTINA Group

AUMOVIO has agreed to sell its washer and cleaning business to Munich-based industrial holding company CERTINA Group, as the automotive supplier continues to streamline its portfolio and focus capital on core technologies.

The deal, announced on 3 September, covers production, research and development, employees and all related business activities.

Closing is subject to customary conditions and is expected by the end of 2026.

The companies did not disclose the purchase price.

The business is headquartered in Adrspach and operates entirely in the Czech Republic, employing around 700 people.

It develops and manufactures cleaning systems including window washers, camera, sensor and headlamp cleaning systems, as well as fluid supply products.

AUMOVIO CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt said: "The sale is another step in our larger strategy to focus on our core business. This means shifting our resources to technologies we have identified as the growth and value drivers for AUMOVIO."

CERTINA plans to integrate the business into its automotive platform, which generates around €600m in annual revenue.

CERTINA Group automotive division head Dr Stefan Brungs said: "The business is a perfect fit for our automotive division. With its strong team in Adrspach, its proven technology and its long-standing customer relationships, the business has everything it needs to grow as an independent company."

The disposal follows other portfolio actions by AUMOVIO, including the sale of its Mechelen site in Belgium to Dumarey Group and a previously announced plan to cut up to 4,000 jobs globally by the end of 2026 in an R&D overhaul.

The move comes as AUMOVIO works through a weaker first half and the effects of its BMW settlement related to a warranty claim.

In the first half of 2026, AUMOVIO reported sales of €8.65bn ($10.05bn), down 9.4% year on year and 8.9% on adjusted basis.

EBIT worsened to a loss of €469m from a loss of €144m, while earnings before tax declined to a loss of €569m from a loss of €95m.

Net income attributable to shareholders was a loss of €597m, versus a loss of €232m in the prior-year period.
