Vietnamese IT services group FPT has agreed to take over the Polish design and development arm of Nippon Seiki Europe, establishing a new subsidiary in Gdańsk dedicated to automotive software.

Under the agreement, Nippon Seiki Europe – a consolidated subsidiary of Japanese automobile components maker Nippon Seiki – will transfer its Gdańsk software development operations to FPT Poland, a subsidiary newly established by FPT Group.

The business being handed over specialises in automotive embedded software development and has a headcount of 50.

The companies have not disclosed financial details of the transaction.

FPT software executive vice president and FPT automotive CEO Nguyen Duc Kinh said: "Through the acquisition of an organisation with more than two decades of experience, FPT will further strengthen our engineering capabilities, including embedded and automotive software development, while balancing consistent quality with development speed."

Nippon Seiki said the divestment aligns with its medium-term management plan for the financial years ending March 2025 to March 2027, which lists "securing growth potential and improving profitability of the HUD business" among its strategic priorities.

The move follows a broader review of the company's European operations focused on business selection and concentration, aimed at streamlining management resources and boosting operational efficiency, it added.

Nippon Seiki also confirmed that it plans to continue outsourcing software development to FPT Poland after the handover and will maintain joint software development efforts across its Japan, Vietnam and Europe locations.

FPT said the Gdańsk-based subsidiary will concentrate on embedded and HUD software development and validation.

It noted that it has operated in Europe since 2008, and that the region's IT services revenue climbed 36.5% during the first seven months of 2026.

Nippon Seiki said the deal's impact on its overall business performance would be minimal, adding that further disclosures would follow if required.

The transfer is set to take effect from 2 October 2026.

Last month, Nippon Seiki agreed to acquire the HUD business of automotive components manufacturer Denso.

The transaction encompasses Denso's HUD development, manufacturing and sales activities in Japan, China, Spain, the US and Mexico.
