Key Takeaways
-
Dominic Basulto sees a path to $2.80 XRP price by the end of 2027 if the midterms support a pro-crypto agenda.
-
Around 2,119 XRP places an account in the top 10% of wallets, according to Sept. 8 data.
-
Coinbase climbed to third in the entity-rich list after XRPScan identified 146 previously unlabeled wallets.
XRP price could double in value by the end of 2027 if November's US midterm elections strengthen support for crypto-friendly policies, according to Motley Fool contributor Dominic Basulto.
The forecast comes as updated wallet data puts the threshold for joining the top 10% of XRP Ledger accounts at approximately 2,119 XRP.
Separately, Coinbase has climbed to third place in XRPScan's entity rankings following a wallet identification update that initially appeared to show a multibillion-token influx.
What Would It Take for XRP Price to Double?
In his Sept. 8 analysis, Basulto outlined a scenario in which victories for pro-crypto candidates help sustain favorable policymaking in Washington.
"That leads me to think that XRP could be among the biggest beneficiaries of the midterm elections," he wrote, adding: "provided the right candidates win, of course."
Basulto highlighted Republican Senate candidates Barry Moore in Alabama and Andy Barr in Kentucky as races to watch, both of which have seen substantial backing from the crypto industry.
Under his scenario, election victories would help preserve the political conditions for further reforms and encourage renewed investor interest in XRP.
He described a move from $1.40 to $2.80 as "certainly within the realm of possible outcomes."
Basulto pointed to XRP's rally following Donald Trump's November 2024 election victory as proof that price can be sensitive to political developments.
However, his forecast depends on more than election results.
Favorable policies would need to translate into stronger demand for XRP, with buyers absorbing available supply at progressively higher prices.
XRP Rich-List Entry Threshold Falls
The amount of XRP needed to enter the top 10% of wallets has fallen from approximately 3,333 XRP in an earlier comparison to around 2,120 XRP.
The balance requirements rise sharply toward the top of the distribution:
At approximatley $1.40 price, the top-10% threshold represents approximately $2,967.
The top-1% threshold would be worth around $62,288.
Percentile rankings depend on both account balances and the total number of accounts.
Adding smaller wallets can lower the entry threshold even if existing larger wallets retain their holdings.
Coinbase Jumps to Third on the XRP Rich List
Coinbase's surge to third on the rich list offered another example of why wallet figures require context.
On Sept. 8, XRP Rich List Bot reported an hourly increase of approximately 4,870%, taking Coinbase's attributed balance to about 5.57 billion XRP.
XRPScan explained that it had identified and labeled 146 previously unidentified Coinbase wallets.
Adding those existing balances to the exchange's total pushed Coinbase into third place in its entity rankings.
The updated ranking listed approximately 5.68 billion XRP across 152 Coinbase-associated accounts.
Meanwhile, the updated entity rankings continue to place Ripple at the top, with 35.7 billion XRP held in escrow and another 3.78 billion, representing around 39.5% of XRP's total supply.
South Korean exchange Upbit ranks second with 6.42 billion XRP across 12 accounts, equivalent to approximately 6.4% of the supply.
Other XRP Price Bulls Have Far Higher Targets
Basulto's $2.80 scenario sits below many of the extreme forecasts circulating among XRP supporters.
Pseudonymous commentator CryptoBull previously pushed a $27 XRP price by the end of October, using a chart channel with an intermediate level near $7.
From $1.44, reaching $27 would require a gain of approximately 1,775%.
Standard Chartered has also outlined substantial longer-term upside.
Its revised February forecasts included $7 for 2027 and $28 for 2030, while simultaneously cutting its 2026 target from $8 to $2.80.
Even more extreme, analyst Charusan published a model in June projecting an eventual XRP price of $324.22.
"The reason I always set a $300 target is because my mathematical calculations explicitly point to $324.22," he wrote.
Charusan estimates that XRP-based infrastructure could eventually handle $1.2 trillion in daily volume across clearing and cross-border banking.
