Thoma Bravo has hired a new executive to oversee its business in Asia, one of two top-level hires in its Investor Relations team.

The $172 billion software investor has appointed Ken S. Park as a managing director of investor relations and head of Asia, according to a person familiar with the matter. The firm's website has been updated to reflect the hire.

Hong Kong-based Park joins from an eight-year stint at HIG Capital, where he led fundraising in Asia across the firm's private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure strategies, according to his corporate biography. Prior to that, he spent five years with Oaktree Capital Management.

Thoma Bravo also hired New York-based Sloane Schuster as a managing director and head of credit investor relations, PitchBook LCD reported. Schuster was a senior managing director with Blackstone and head of product for the firm's Credit & Insurance and Real Estate divisions.

Thoma Bravo rounded out fundraising for its sixteenth flagship software fund, which collected $24.3 billion, in June last year, as well as an $8.1 billion fund focused on smaller software companies.

Unlike similar-sized peers, Thoma Bravo does not expressly target Asia-based investments and has fewer publicly disclosed relationships with Asian limited partners.

Fubon Life Vietnam and Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund are among the Asian institutional investors that backed this latest series of funds, according to PitchBook data.

The firm also has no official office in Asia, though it employs individuals in the region, according to its website.

In a 2021 interview with the Asian Venture Capital Journal, founder and managing partner Orlando Bravo said Thoma Bravo had yet to find an appropriately sized platform investment in the region, noting the paucity of opportunities where it could take a controlling stake rather than a minority position.

Thoma Bravo did not respond to questions about the hire of Park and its implications for the firm's strategy in the region.

Last month, Thoma Bravo agreed to acquire specialty insurance software platform Accelerant for over $4 billion, a signal that PE believes public markets have priced in AI risk too indiscriminately, PitchBook reported.

The Atlanta business agreed to be taken private at a 49% premium to its share price on the day before the deal was announced.
