German technology company Limetax has secured $41.9m (€36m) in funding as it develops an agentic platform for accounting and tax practices.

The total capital package consists of a €6m pre-seed equity round alongside a €30m facility designated for acquisitions, provided by a consortium of German lenders.

The equity financing was led by Motive Partners, with additional backing from Activant and Heliad. Several angel investors including former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner also participated.

Limetax plans to use the raised capital to advance its agentic platform and form partnerships with new tax practices throughout the country.

Motive Partners Venture partner Michael Hock said: "Professional services is one of the largest sectors where the potential of AI is only beginning to be unlocked.

"In accounting and tax, the constraint is not demand, it is capacity.

"Limetax is building technology where the work actually happens: together with the partner firms and deeply embedded in their operations.

"The combination of technology and professional expertise has the potential to build a new generation of accounting and tax firms."

Established in January this year by Christoph Gamon, Maximilian Meyer and Christoph Dansard, Limetax partners with German accounting businesses to integrate its technology directly into their daily operations.

The company's platform is designed to operate on top of DATEV, the enterprise software widely utilised within the German tax sector.

Through this integration, the system coordinates specialised AI agents to manage administrative and routine functions across bookkeeping, payroll services and the preparation of financial statements.

The business now encompasses four companies operating across seven locations, employing approximately 150 people.

Limetax co-founder and CEO Christoph Gamon said: "The future of accounting and tax advisory will not be built by adding another AI tool.

"It will be built by rethinking advisory and technology together from the ground up. That is what we are doing at Limetax.

"Together with our partner firms, we are building a group where our agentic platform becomes the technological backbone of day-to-day work.

"That creates more space for the things people do best: applying judgement, solving complex problems and providing real advice."

"Germany's Limetax secures $41.9m financing for agentic tax platform" was originally created and published by International Accounting Bulletin, a GlobalData owned brand.
