MNK Group completes ETU Forsikring acquisition

UK-based MNK Group has completed the acquisition of 100% of ETU Forsikring, a Danish non-life insurer.

The deal, the transaction value of which was not revealed, marks MNK Group's first risk carrier domiciled in the EU.

The acquisition of the insurer, which is headquartered in Rødekro in Southern Jutland, followed approval from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finanstilsynet.

ETU has held insurer authorisation since 2006 and is licensed across 11 non-life classes.

These include property (fire and other damage), general liability, motor, marine hull and liability, and goods in transit (cargo), along with accident, legal expenses and assistance.

MNK Group chairman Manoj Kumar said: "This acquisition reflects a long-term commitment, and we look forward to building our presence locally and deepening our relationships across the Nordics and the wider European market."

The company also holds freedom-of-services passports into Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Norway and Sweden.

A freedom-of-services passport lets a regulated company offer services across European Economic Area countries from its home-country authorisation, without needing separate licences in each host country.

MNK Group said it is committing new capital to ETU and plans to expand the company's existing Danish and Nordic operations, while continuing to serve policyholders and distribution partners.

The group also said it intends to invest in ETU's people, products and technology in Denmark.

Over time, it plans to develop the insurer into a hub for its broader European operations, with further lines of business to follow, subject to regulatory approval.

MNK Group is a privately owned business operating across the insurance value chain.

It includes MNK International, formerly MNK Re, which is a Lloyd's broker; Specialty MGA, a network of managing general agents in the UK, Italy, the US and the Middle East; and risk carriers Mekong Re, Florida Re and MNK Seguros.

Its operations cover the UK, continental Europe, the US, Latin America and Bermuda, as well as the Middle East and Asia. ETU Forsikring is the group's first EU-domiciled insurer.

In February 2026, MNK International launched a new operation in São Paulo, marking its entry into Brazil's insurance sector.
