Quanta Services, Inc. (PWR) is a leading specialty infrastructure contractor that designs, builds, upgrades, repairs, and maintains critical energy and communications infrastructure across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and select international markets.

With a market cap of $96.1 billion, Quanta Services fits squarely within the large-cap stock category. It is particularly well positioned to benefit from the surging demand for electricity and grid investment. Data-center expansion, AI infrastructure, manufacturing reshoring, electrification, renewable-energy buildouts, and grid modernization are all driving demand for the infrastructure Quanta provides.

PWR has pulled back 20.5% from its 52-week high of $788.75, reached on May 6. Still, the recent dip does little to diminish its broader momentum. Over the past three months, PWR stock gained 9.4%, comfortably ahead of the S&P 500 Index ($SPX), which has rallied 3.4%.

The robust momentum persists in the long term as well. Shares of PWR rose 48.6% on a YTD basis and climbed 67.9% over the past 52 weeks, notably outperforming the index's YTD gains of 11.6% and 17.3% returns over the last year.

Technically, PWR remains in a longer-term uptrend, trading above its 200-day moving average for the past year, although its late-August dip below the 50-day average points to some near-term consolidation.

Quanta Services' solid price rally over the past year is supported by strong demand for its infrastructure services and a robust sales pipeline. Its backlog has grown 25.2% annually over the past two years, while EPS growth of 32.9% has outpaced revenue growth, highlighting improving profitability. Moreover, as a leading contractor for transmission, distribution, substations, and other critical power infrastructure, PWR is well positioned to benefit from the massive infrastructure buildout needed to support the AI boom.

As AI reshapes the power and infrastructure landscape, Quanta Services is adding technology expertise to its boardroom. On Sept. 9, the company appointed Ellen Rubin to its Board of Directors, bringing deep experience in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and technology strategy.

Moreover, PWR electrified investors recently with a blockbuster second-quarter report. On July 30, 2026, Quanta Services shares surged 17.3% after the company reported a 41.1% jump in revenue to a record $9.56 billion and a 71% increase in adjusted EPS to $4.24, comfortably beating Wall Street estimates. A record $53.4 billion backlog and robust demand for grid, power-generation, and data-center infrastructure further strengthened the growth story, prompting management to significantly raise its full-year revenue and adjusted EPS guidance to $39.5 billion and $16.70, respectively.

In the competitive arena of engineering & construction, Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (FIX) has taken the lead over PWR, showing resilience with a 73.1% uptick on a YTD basis and 127.6% gains over the past 52 weeks.

Nevertheless, Wall Street analysts are bullish on PWR's prospects. The stock has a consensus "Strong Buy" rating from the 27 analysts covering it, and the mean price target of $805.69 suggests a potential upside of 28.5% from current price levels.
