Greifensee, Switzerland-based Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (MTD) manufactures and supplies precision instruments and services in the Americas and internationally. The company has a market cap of $25.9 billion and operates through five segments: U.S. Operations, Swiss Operations, Western European Operations, Chinese Operations, and Other Operations, and offers laboratory instruments, process analytics sensors and analyzer technologies, density and refractometry instruments, among other offerings.

Companies with a market cap of $10 billion or more are typically referred to as "large-cap stocks." MTD fits perfectly into that category, with its market cap exceeding this threshold and reflecting its substantial size and influence in the diagnostics and research industry.

MTD's short-term outperformance could be traced back to its Q2 2026 earnings. The company's revenue for the quarter rose 4.5% from the previous year's quarter to $1 billion, coming in line with the Street's forecasts. Additionally, its adjusted EPS came in at $11.46, beating the consensus estimates. On a more positive note, the company raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $47.33 at the midpoint, marking a 1.5% increase. Additionally, its free cash flow margin also came in at 27.5%, up from 21.6% in the year-ago quarter, indicating better profitability.

When stacked against its peer in the diagnostics and research industry, Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (DGX) shares have surged 30.7% over the past 52 weeks, also outpacing MTD.

Wall Street's view of MTD stock is somewhat bullish. Among the 15 analysts covering the stock, the overall consensus rating is "Moderate Buy." Its mean price target of $1,464.60 offers a 13.7% upside potential.
