Kering Promotes Sophie Maddaloni to General Secretary of the Group

LAW AND ORDER: Kering has promoted Sophie Maddaloni, its longtime group tax director, to general secretary of the group, effective immediately.

Maddaloni, who is based in Paris, also joins Kering's executive committee and reports to Jean-Marc Duplaix, group chief operating officer.

Maddaloni succeeds Mélanie Flouquet, who left Kering last May after 14 months to join investment bank Morgan Stanley.

In her new role, Maddaloni is responsible for the group's governance and for safeguarding its interests,
as well as for upholding the highest standards of compliance, according to Kering. She oversees its legal, internal control, internal audit and security departments.

She brings "recognized expertise in legal affairs, governance and organizational transformation. Her track record and in-depth knowledge of Kering will be valuable assets in supporting the implementation of the group's strategic priorities, further strengthening its governance standards and sustaining its long-term development," Kering said in a statement issued Tuesday after the close of trading on the Paris Bourse.

After getting a master's degree in business law from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and a postgraduate degree in international business law and taxation from HEC Paris – Université de Sceaux, Maddaloni began her career in 1991 at Elf Aquitaine, logging 10 years in a range of international tax roles at the French oil company. She joined Alstom in 2002 and Technip in 2004, where she headed the group's tax and legal functions.

She moved over to Kering in 2017 and "led the transformation of the tax function and contributed to strengthening Kering's compliance and risk management framework," the group said.
