MSTR trades at $130 with a beta of 3.6, down 60% over one year as Bitcoin pulls back and MSCI delisting risk keeps institutional buyers away.

Bitcoin reclaiming $120,000 is the critical trigger that would flip Strategy's balance sheet positive and potentially drive MSTR to $400.
-
Our model's bull scenario hits $392 versus Wall Street's conservative $226 consensus, which analysts argue fails to price in a Bitcoin recovery.

MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) has effectively become a leveraged Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) balance sheet with a legacy analytics business bolted on. Now rebranded as Strategy, the firm holds 846,000 BTC and its stock trades as an amplified proxy for the coin.
Shares sit at $129.60 after a brutal year, and I want to answer one question directly: can MSTR reach $400 in 2027, and what does Bitcoin need to do to make that happen?
Why MSTR Shares Are Stuck at $130
Bitcoin. That is the entire story. The coin closed at $75,584 on September 15 after touching $82,283 intraday on September 3. That pullback dragged MSTR down 5.07% on the week and left the stock down 14.71% year to date and a painful 60.46% over one year.
With a beta of 3.597, MSTR magnifies every Bitcoin wiggle. Q2 delivered an $8.22 billion net loss driven by unrealized digital asset losses under fair-value accounting, and Polymarket traders are pricing an 78% probability of an MSCI index delisting by year end. That is the overhang keeping institutional buyers on the sidelines.

Wall Street Sees 75% Upside. Our Model Says 97%
Wall Street's consensus price target is $226.20, split across 2 strong buys, 12 buys, and 1 hold, with zero sells. Our base case is more aggressive at $254.93, implying 96.7% upside, and our bull scenario reaches $391.94. Confidence is medium.
I think the sell side is being lazy here. With 93% bullish analyst sentiment and no sell ratings, the $226 target reads like anchoring to the current price rather than modeling a Bitcoin recovery. If Bitcoin reclaims its highs, that target moves fast.
Here's What It Takes for MSTR to Reach $400
Reaching $400 from today's price of $129.60 would require a gain of 208.6%. That is a stretch, and I own that. With a derived forward EPS of roughly $24.41 (based on the 5x forward P/E), a $400 price implies a forward P/E of 16x. Our base case of $254.93 already implies 10x, meaning the bold target requires roughly 6x of additional multiple expansion.
Here is the path. Strategy has grown holdings to 846,000 BTC at an average cost near $76,000. If Bitcoin rallies back through $120,000, the balance sheet swings from unrealized loss to a massive gain, EPS flips positive, and the mNAV premium expands.
CEO Phong Le said the company "grew our bitcoin holdings by 11% to 846,000 bitcoin, reduced our convertible debt by 18% to $6.7 billion". Bank adoption tailwinds from Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Citi add fuel.
The primary risk is another Bitcoin drawdown that reactivates dilution fears.
Where Strategy Trades Today vs Its Earnings Power
MSTR's 5x forward P/E looks absurdly cheap on paper, but that number is noise because earnings are dominated by Bitcoin's mark-to-market swings.
The real yardstick is Bitcoin-per-share, which management grew 5% in Q2 alone. Shares trade between the 52-week low of $81.81 and high of $365.21. The 10-year return of 686.22% reminds you what MSTR can do when Bitcoin cooperates.
Is $400 Realistic? Here's My Take
$400 requires a 208.6% gain, so I will not sugarcoat it: this is a stretch target rather than a base case.
Three things need to go right. Bitcoin needs to reclaim and hold above $120,000, the MSCI delisting risk needs to resolve favorably, and Strategy needs to keep growing Bitcoin-per-share through disciplined capital raises.
A sustained Bitcoin bear market below $70,000 would derail the entire thesis. Returns at this level shouldn't be expected every year, but we've outlined the blueprint for how MicroStrategy could reach $400 in 2027.
