Loren Finegold, Ed Comber Join Vinson & Elkins NY Practice, Finance & Infrastructure Growth

Vinson & Elkins said partners Loren Finegold and Ed Comber joined its Structured Finance and Securitization practice in New York, with Mr. Finegold becoming head of the practice. Both partners previously served at Latham & Watkins and have worked together for nearly a decade.

Mr. Finegold has more than 25 years of experience in highly structured asset-based financing solutions, including the first two midstream oil and gas securitizations closed to date, the first-ever securitizations of hyperscale and colocation data centers and wireless tower ground leases, the first-ever securitization of proven developed producing oil and gas wells in a master trust structure, and the first-ever securitization of earned wage access receivables for a leading fintech issuer, the firm stated.

Mr. Comber's experience focuses on structured finance, securitization, and other secured financing transactions, with his background including midstream and upstream oil and gas assets, GPU financings, shipping containers, triple net lease assets, and rental car fleet securitizations, Vinson & Elkins reported.

The firm announced it has hired 17 new partners so far in 2026 propelled by its infrastructure practice especially related to power and data center projects. Examples include representing Lancium, the company ‌behind the Stargate data center campus in Texas where NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) will invest up to $3 billion, and advising Industrial Development Funding in a $1.7 billion project investment alongside Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE: BE) to provide power for AI cloud infrastructure in New Jersey, Vinson & Elkins reported.

Vinson & Elkins also ranked No. 3 globally in Power Sector M&A by deal value in the first half of 2026 according to GlobalData, No. 7 in North America and No. 15 globally in infrastructure dealmaking by deal count in the first half 2026 according to Infralogic, and it won Energy, Infrastructure and Projects Firm of the Year at the 2026 Chambers USA Awards, the firm said.
