Yee-Yeong to lead Barclays private bank in Singapore and Asia

Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as head of private bank for Singapore and Asia.

He will operate out of Singapore and oversee the lender's private banking operations in the city-state, while also taking charge of a regional strategy alongside the private bank's broader distribution teams that serve international Asian clients.

The appointment will take effect later this year.

In India, the private bank will continue to be led by Adrish Ghosh, who will keep reporting directly to Annabelle Bryde, head of private bank international.

Yee-Yeong is joining from Morgan Stanley, where he currently serves as chief executive and head of sales for the bank's Singapore wealth management business.

He has more than 20 years of experience in wealth management, including work advising ultra-high-net-worth clients and managing teams across Asia Pacific.

Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership and client-facing positions at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch.

He is set to take over from Alexander Harrison, who has been serving as interim head of private bank Singapore.

The move follows the launch of Barclays Private Bank's Singapore booking centre earlier this month.
