Advent-led consortium agrees to acquire FNZ Bank

Advent and a group of investors that includes HarbourVest Partners have reached an agreement to purchase FNZ Bank from FNZ.

After the deal closes, the new owners intend to back the bank's next stage of development through long-term spending on technology and operating functions, while also working on its products and services for partners.

Advent managing partner Ranjan Sen said: "We are grateful for the trust that Blythe Masters, Group CEO of FNZ, and the wider FNZ team have placed in us as we acquire FNZ Bank in Germany.

"We look forward to partnering with the FNZ Bank leadership team, and will bring our investment experience in financial services to support the expansion of FNZ Bank's infrastructure platform and its next phase of profitable growth."

FNZ Bank is a Germany-based provider of banking and infrastructure services for the wealth management sector.

Its activities include banking, custody, trade execution and regulatory support.

The business links more than 50,000 financial advisers, 200 asset managers and over 400 distribution partners, serving more than 2.1 million end customers and holding €155bn ($178.5bn) in assets under custody.

FNZ and FNZ Bank plan to maintain their existing commercial relationship once the transaction is completed, using FNZ's technology to support the bank's operations and offering in Germany.

FNZ will remain active in the German market as a provider of enterprise wealth management platform technology.

The transaction is due to be completed in the second half of 2027, subject to regulatory and other approvals.
