Wayfair (NYSE:W) shares fell around 3% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, even after the online home furnishings retailer reported second-quarter 2026 earnings and revenue that both exceeded Wall Street expectations.

The company delivered solid sales growth, higher customer spending and continued gains in order volumes, but investors remained cautious following the results.

Revenue and Earnings Beat Forecasts

Wayfair reported earnings of $0.95 per share for the second quarter, ahead of the analyst consensus estimate of $0.87.

Revenue increased 7.5% year over year to $3.52 billion, surpassing market expectations of approximately $3.45 billion.

Growth was driven primarily by the U.S. business, where demand remained resilient throughout the quarter.

U.S. Business Offsets International Weakness

Net revenue in the United States climbed 8.7% from a year earlier to $3.1 billion, representing an increase of $251 million.

International revenue, however, declined 1.3% to $394 million, a decrease of $5 million compared with the same period last year.

CEO Highlights Continued Momentum

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Niraj Shah said the company continued to gain market share while maintaining strong sales momentum.

"Q2 marked another strong quarter of share capture and top line momentum, with 7.5% net revenue growth fueled by momentum in orders, which were up by 6% for the period. We saw the best sequential growth we've seen in a Q2 since the second quarter of 2020," said Wayfair co-founder and CEO Niraj Shah.

"We saw noteworthy outperformance from our specialty retail brands, which grew by nearly 20% in the second quarter, and Perigold, which grew by more than 35%," he added.

Customer Metrics Continue to Improve

Wayfair ended the quarter with 21.7 million active customers, representing a 3.3% increase from the previous year.

Trailing 12-month net revenue per active customer rose 4.2% to $596.

The average number of orders per customer also improved, increasing to 1.89 from 1.86 a year earlier.

Order Growth Remains Strong

The company delivered 10.6 million orders during the quarter, up 6.0% year over year.

Average order value also increased, rising to $332 compared with $328 in the same period last year, reflecting continued strength in customer spending.
