Tech stocks today: SpaceX lockup ends, Google faces AI leadership shakeup

SpaceX (SPCX) will see roughly 900 million shares held by employees and early investors unlock on Thursday, adding to the volatility in the stock that has fallen well below its IPO price of $135.

And while it doesn't mean the market will immediately be flooded with hundreds of millions of shares, it adds to Wall Street's concerns. SpaceX stock rose in early trading after steep declines following its earnings Tuesday.

On the AI front (GOOG, GOOGL) on Wednesday announced it is shaking up its AI leadership.

Google said DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is transitioning to a new role as chair of DeepMind and chief scientist for all of Alphabet. DeepMind CTO and Google chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu will become senior vice president for DeepMind and report directly to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.

The company is also losing chief scientist Jeff Dean, who is founding a new company called Discovery Loop with Google senior fellow Sanjay Ghemawat.

Google stock was flat in early trading.
