Energy Vault has entered into a commercial agreement to deliver 1.25GW of integrated power infrastructure for a hyperscaler artificial intelligence (AI) data centre project in Texas, US.

The deal involves the deployment of grid-forming power conversion systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and AI infrastructure control software to support high-performance computing needs.

Energy Vault stated that this platform will combine several elements, including dispatchable power generation, intelligent BESS, inverter systems, and advanced software controls, into a single package designed specifically for hyperscaler AI campuses.

The system is intended to provide off-grid power and enable data centre compute capacity to come online more quickly than would be possible through traditional utility interconnections. Deployments are set to begin within the next four to 12 months.

According to the company, this approach supports a rapid speed-to-power timeline that does not rely on existing utility connections.

As AI infrastructure grows globally, the company said developers are seeking comprehensive power platforms to handle the rapidly shifting energy requirements of AI computing rather than separate technologies.

The integrated architecture is designed to coordinate generation, storage, and on-site electrical systems in real time, and to support deployments compliant with FEOC standards.

The agreement provides what the companies describe as a reference framework for digital control, power distribution, grid stability, and load optimisation in large-scale facilities.

Unlike conventional installations where assets run independently, this platform aims to orchestrate and optimise power generation, BESS, conversion, and site infrastructure as a unified system.

Energy Vault's AI software manages power flow, stabilises voltage and frequency, and reduces generator cycling while responding to the dynamic load created by AI workloads.

The system's modular setup will allow for AI infrastructure deployment in advance of permanent grid integration and enable further additions such as renewable or utility power as campus needs expand.

The partner in the agreement, a national engineering, procurement and construction specialist, will provide power generation experience including Caterpillar gensets.

Energy Vault indicated that the initial 1.25GW project is backed by a hyperscaler customer contract for deployment in Texas.

The company expects the agreement to generate approximately $500m to $600m in revenue during the second half of 2026 and into 2027.

Energy Vault chairman and CEO Robert Piconi said: "With this agreement we have created a highly differentiated platform that combines industry-leading power generation, intelligent energy storage and advanced power plant software into a single integrated solution purpose-built for AI infrastructure."

The firms said they plan to pursue other opportunities for similar infrastructure in markets where grid capacity is constrained and demand for rapidly deployable power is increasing.

"Energy Vault to supply 1.25GW power platform for hyperscaler AI data centre" was originally created and published by Power Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
