Cadeler acquires Menck for $578m to expand offshore wind operations

Danish offshore wind installation contractor Cadeler has acquired Menck, a German provider of equipment and technology for offshore foundation installation, for €501m ($578.1m).

Following the completion of all required regulatory approvals, the agreement allows Menck to continue operating as an independent business within the Cadeler Group.

Cadeler acquired Menck from Acteon, an offshore energy services firm based in the UK that delivers engineering and operational solutions for offshore assets throughout their lifecycle.

Funding for the deal includes both Cadeler's existing liquidity and a €380m acquisition facility jointly arranged by DNB Bank and Coöperatieve Rabobank.

Cadeler intends to replace the acquisition facility with longer-term financing and future operational cash flow.

Menck offers hydraulic impact hammers, noise mitigation solutions, drilling, grouting, and lifting services for fixed-bottom offshore foundations.

The company's equipment and expertise have been used on various projects, including supplying a 4,400kJ impact hammer for Cadeler's ongoing work at the Hornsea 3 offshore wind project.

According to Cadeler, keeping Menck as a standalone business is a central part of the acquisition, ensuring the preservation of Menck's organisational structure, market relationships, and operational approach.

Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup said: "Offshore wind projects continue to increase in scale and technical complexity, making reliable execution more important than ever. Menck has built an outstanding reputation over more than 150 years as a trusted provider of mission-critical foundation installation equipment and engineering expertise.

"Bringing together Menck's specialist engineering capabilities with Cadeler's offshore installation proficiency, we are combining highly complementary strengths that will enhance our support to customers across the full installation value chain."

Menck will continue to supply equipment and services to other contractors across the offshore wind industry, retaining its market identity.

Cadeler operates one of the largest fleets of jack-up wind installation vessels and has positioned itself for large-scale, complex offshore projects.

The company indicated that bringing Menck's engineering expertise and technical solutions alongside its own fleet will allow it to offer a more integrated approach to the transportation and installation (T&I) of wind foundations.

Both companies share a model focused on leveraging technical and operational know-how to maximise the value and utilisation of their asset bases.

Cadeler expects the acquisition to enable more efficient project delivery, reduce dependency on subcontractors, and increase project flexibility, while maintaining Menck's access to the wider market.

In June 2026, Cadeler completed the installation of 100 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines at RWE's 1.4GW Sofia offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea.
