Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, PulteGroup, Inc. (PHM) is a leading U.S. homebuilder operating in more than 45 markets. It builds and sells homes for first-time, move-up, and active adult buyers under brands including Pulte Homes, Centex, Del Webb, DiVosta, and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. It has a market capitalization of $24.8 billion.

Shares of this leading homebuilder have slightly underperformed the broader market over the past year. PHM has gained 4.7% over this period, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has climbed nearly 20.2%. The stock has continued to underperform the index in 2026, gaining 10.2% year-to-date, compared with the S&P 500's 13.2% gain over the same period.

On July 22, PulteGroup reported its Q2 FY2026 earnings, sending shares up 2%. Home sale revenues fell 10.8% to $3.8 billion, driven by an 8% decline in closing volumes and a 3% decrease in average sales price. Diluted EPS was $2.48, down 18.2% from $3.03 a year earlier. On the bright side, net new orders Increased 6% year over year to 7,536 homes and order value improved 5% 4.1 billion.

PulteGroup said market conditions remain highly competitive amid macroeconomic uncertainty, volatile interest rates and strained affordability, though it sees early signs of stabilizing conditions in select geographies. The company continues to make tactical, market-by-market adjustments to balance price and pace as it works to sustain high returns across the business.

Analysts expect PHM's diluted EPS to decline 11.9% year over year to $10.08 for the fiscal year ending in December 2026. PHM has surpassed consensus EPS estimates in three of the past four quarters, while missing expectations in one quarter.

Based on the 16 analysts covering PHM stock, the consensus rating is a "Moderate Buy." The rating is based on seven "Strong Buy" ratings, one "Moderate Buy" rating, seven "Hold" ratings, and one "Strong Sell" rating.

This consensus is more bearish than it was two months ago, when the stock had eight "Strong Buy" ratings.

On August 5, Wells Fargo analyst Sam Reid reaffirmed a "Buy" rating on PulteGroup with a $150 price target.

Based on analysts' estimates, the mean price target of $140.78 implies a 9% premium to PHM's current share price, while the Street-high price target of $166 suggests a 28.5% upside.
