Jasper Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:JSPR) reported better-than-expected second-quarter 2026 results on Monday, although shares of the clinical-stage biotechnology company fell 4.24% in pre-market trading following the announcement.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Jasper recorded an adjusted loss of $0.10 per share, considerably better than the analyst consensus forecast for a loss of $0.28 per share.
The company reported a net loss of $2.8 million for the period. Research and development expenses totalled $5.1 million, while general and administrative costs were $4.1 million.
Kira Pharmaceuticals acquisition expands clinical pipeline
Jasper completed its acquisition of Kira Pharmaceuticals in July through an all-stock transaction, combining the two companies' development programmes into a broader portfolio of therapies targeting immune-mediated diseases.
Alongside the acquisition, Jasper closed a private placement that generated $132 million in gross proceeds. The financing was co-led by Affinity Asset Advisors and Ikarian Capital, with additional participation from other life sciences investors.
"We are excited to unite Jasper Therapeutics and Kira Pharmaceuticals to advance our shared mission of developing a differentiated portfolio of innovative therapies for patients with significant immune-mediated diseases," said Jeet Mahal, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jasper.
The financing has also significantly extended the company's expected funding runway.
"Supported by our recent $132 million financing led by leading life sciences investors, we believe that we have sufficient capital to fund planned operations through the second half of 2028."
Combined company advances three clinical-stage assets
Following the Kira transaction, Jasper is progressing three clinical-stage development programmes.
KP-104, a dual complement inhibitor, is currently being assessed in a Phase 2 basket trial targeting rare renal indications. Interim results from the study are expected during the fourth quarter of 2026.
Briquilimab, Jasper's anti-KIT antibody, is moving towards a pre-BLA meeting with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company expects to provide further details on the programme's next steps during the first quarter of 2027.
Jasper also intends to submit a clinical trial application for KP-701 during the first quarter of 2027, adding another potential development catalyst to its pipeline.
Financing extends expected cash runway into 2028
Jasper reported cash and cash equivalents of $7.3 million as of June 30, 2026, before completion of the $132 million private placement in July.
The subsequent financing substantially strengthens the combined company's capital position as it advances multiple clinical programmes.
While the earnings result exceeded expectations, the negative pre-market share-price reaction indicates investors remain focused on execution across the enlarged clinical pipeline following the Kira acquisition.
Upcoming milestones include interim KP-104 Phase 2 data in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by regulatory developments for briquilimab and KP-701 in early 2027.
