Visa In Search Of Stablecoin Partner After BVNK Sale

Credit card giant Visa (NYSE: $V) is in search of a new stablecoin settlement partner after its previous partner in the space, BVNK, was acquired by rival Mastercard (NYSE: $MA).
Visa has reportedly issued a request for product talks about the ability to swap and support a range of stablecoins, as well as handle settlement for the Open USD stablecoin project.
Visa is a leading member of the Open USD project, along with payment firm Stripe and Mastercard.

Visa is said to be looking for one settlement and one over-the-counter partner that has secured crypto exchange licenses in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.
Stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies pegged to another asset such as the U.S. dollar, remain a focus of payment giants such as Visa and Mastercard.
The total stablecoin market is currently valued at $300 billion U.S., according to CoinGecko.
In July of this year, Visa launched its new "Visa Stablecoin Platform" that provides banks and financial technology firms with tools to access, store, redeem and move stablecoins.
The two dominant stablecoins are Tether's USDT (CRYPTO: $USDT) and Circle Internet Group's (NYSE: $CRCL) USDC (CRYPTO: $USDC).
V stock has risen 6% over the last 12 months to trade at $364.43 U.S. per share.
