Risen Energy and Ascania Energy have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to develop up to 100MW of solar power and 200MW-hours of battery energy storage projects in Ukraine.

The MoUs were formally signed by Risen Energy Europe president Jerry Qin and Ascania Energy CEO and co-owner Yevhen Piatko. Ascania Energy chief technology officer Yehor Yarmolenko also attended the event.

The partnership aims to address Ukraine's demand for new electricity generation and decentralised energy solutions.

Pairing solar generation with battery storage adds distributed capacity, supports the integration of renewable energy and provides flexibility during periods when the electricity grid is constrained.

Ascania Energy is involved in various stages of the energy value chain in Ukraine, including direct energy supply, energy management, engineering, project development, system integration and trading.

The company operates as part of Ascania Group, which has three decades of business experience in the country.

Risen Energy offers photovoltaic (PV) modules, energy storage solutions, inverters and intelligent energy management services.

These products are supported by end-to-end capabilities spanning research and development, manufacturing, quality assurance, project delivery and global service.

The company reported delivering more than 121.4GW of PV modules and in excess of 10GW-hours of battery storage systems globally by the second quarter of 2026, with operations in more than 90 countries and regions.

In Ukraine, Risen has supplied equipment for a dozen solar projects including the 323MW Pokrovskaya Solar Power Plant.

During a visit earlier this month, an Ascania Energy team toured Risen Energy's manufacturing facility to review its production and quality management processes for PV and storage technologies.

The companies discussed products including Hyper-ion Pro heterojunction modules and eTron liquid-cooled storage systems.

The collaboration will also focus on localising products, providing engineering training and after-sales technical support, and building local capacity for solar-plus-storage deployments in Ukraine.
